How to Get to Caminito Del Rey from Malaga

El Caminito del Rey is one of the most interesting scenic attractions for adventure lovers. Located in Malaga , between the municipalities of Álora, Ardales and Antequera, its height and steep walls make the journey a unique enclave that will not leave any visitor indifferent.

The natural environment where the Caminito del Rey is located is a complex environment, surrounded by numerous geographical accidents that cause access to the site to involve some difficulties. Although the only way to get to the start of the route is on foot, it is possible to get close to it with conventional means of transport.

So that you don’t get lost or have doubts about how to get there, we leave you the best routes and means of transport so that getting from Malaga to Caminito del Rey does not become an odyssey.

Get to Caminito by Road

This is the fastest and easiest way , since you will not have to be aware of schedules or transfers.

To get to the Caminito by road from Malaga we will have to take a 59.1-kilometer route that will take us about an hour by car . We will start by marking the El Kiosco Restaurant as the destination , where the parking lot and the North entrance to the Caminito are located.

The route begins on the A-357 towards Cártama / Campillos and ends at the exit to MA-5403 in the direction of M-442 Ardales / El Chorro.

If, on the other hand, your thing is public transport , there are also other alternatives that will take you to the Caminito del Rey.

Get to Caminito by Train

The only drawback of this option is the restriction of hours. Currently, there is only one Renfe line that reaches the southern entrance to Caminito del Rey , and which has two exits Malaga – El Chorro and three exits El Chorro – Malaga.

The train departs from Malaga at María Zambrano station every day, from Monday to Sunday at the following times:

  • 10:05 with arrival at the Caminito of the King at 10:47 .

  • 16:48 pm with arrival at the Caminito of the King at 17:30 .

To return to Malaga, there are three departures from the Caminito del Rey , although the only ones that match the departures from Malaga are two in the afternoon:

  • 15:13 hours with arrival in Malaga at 15:52 hours.

  • 6:03 pm with arrival in Malaga at 6:50 pm.

Get to Caminito by bus

This is perhaps, of all the proposed solutions, the one that entails the most intricacies, since we will have to make a transfer in Álora.

We will start the route in Malaga taking the M-231 Malaga – Pizarra – Álora line. From Monday to Friday , this line has a total of fifteen departures throughout the day, with a frequency of approximately one hour .

On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays , it only has five departures from Malaga, starting at eight in the morning and until eight in the afternoon, with a frequency of approximately three hours.

Once we get to Alora , the next step is to take line M-340 with destination Caminito King . From Monday to Friday there are a total of four departures , of which three are in the morning.

On working Saturdays there are three departures , two in the morning and one in the afternoon. On Sundays and holidays , there are again four departures , two in the morning, one at noon and one in the afternoon.

If you access this link, you will be able to check which are the schedules of the lines M-231 and M-340 that best suit your needs.

These are the three possible options to get to Caminito del Rey from Malaga . If you are thinking of visiting this peculiar corner awarded with the “Europa Nostra” Award by the European Union, at Offitravel we offer you different packages and alternatives to make your visit to Caminito del Rey an unforgettable experience.
